At the 2025 Mid-America Trucking Show’s Big Rig Build-Off, Bill Warner Jr. and his son, Cody Warner, entered this stunning 1988 Peterbilt 362 that they built together over a six-month period.
The truck, nicknamed the “Hillbilly Hampton,” was one of three trucks that made it to MATS as part of the invitation-only Build-Off.
As Bill Warner Jr. describes here, every bolt on the truck has been touched — many of them painted. The truck’s paint work extends to places on the rig that most people would never see — the underside of the rear fenders and frame and much more.
Powered by a 550-hp Cat 2WS 3406E with a 13-speed, the rig sits on a 250-inch wheelbase — 10 inches longer than when they started working on it.
The truck was built for Bill’s 9-year-old grandson, Jaden, and Bill surprised him with the Lego-themed carpet the truck was parked on during the show.
Hear plenty more in the video about the details of the special build.
