Here are my top 3 takeaways from my conversation with Summitt Hogue:

1. Identify Unmet Needs:

Pay attention to what’s not being done in the market. By focusing on unmet needs or underserved markets, you can create a niche for your business and gain a competitive advantage. Summit experienced this firsthand as a real estate broker when he decided to focus on a specific industry instead of a territory. This allowed him to expand his reach and develop expertise, making him more valuable to his customers. Identifying market gaps positions you to innovate and differentiate yourself from competitors.

2.Take Initiative:

Entrepreneurs often wear multiple hats and have various responsibilities, & there’s always something you can do to improve your business. Summit learned this lesson growing up on the farm from his father, who taught him to be proactive and find something to do if there was nothing assigned. Applying this mindset to his real estate career paid off. Whether it’s going the extra mile for customers or finding new ways to source leads, he always found something he could do as it was second nature. Taking initiative and being proactive can help you seize opportunities, solve problems effectively, adapt to change, and position yourself for success.

3. Believe in Your Dreams:

Believing in the possibility of achieving your dreams is a powerful tool to overcome obstacles. Summit’s inspiring story of making the Texas Tech football team against all odds showcases the importance of unwavering belief and taking action. Despite a late start to his high school football career & a serious senior year injury, Summit approached Coach Tuberville with confidence and showcased his abilities, ultimately earning a spot on the team. When you are clear about your goals and take action despite circumstances, amazing things can happen.

Full circle moments are significant for entrepreneurs as they validate the hard work, perseverance, and dedication they put into their vision. Summit shared his experience with the IWLA, the premier warehousing association & their flagship event. He started out having to network in the lobby due to financial constraints Just a few short years later, Summit’s company grew to the point they became a sponsor at their event. These moments demonstrate what’s possible with hard work, resilience, and determination.
